Om kurset

We offer rigger training – modules P-2.4 & P-4.4. Are you aiming for a job offshore? Then you should take one of our rigger courses! This course is based on the new curriculum introduced in July 2022. Modules P-2.4 and P-4.4 replace the former O-2.2 and O-3.2.

Purpose of the training:

The purpose of the training is to provide future riggers with solid theoretical and practical basic training in the safe use of simple lifting appliances and rigging equipment. The rigger course is designed to give participants a thorough understanding of the principles behind simple lifting devices, portable winches, the construction and function of rigging equipment, as well as correct usage and maintenance — in order to prevent incidents and accidents during rigging operations.

The course applies to equipment used for both horizontal and vertical movement of loads, suspended from structures such as beams and other supports. It is aimed primarily at offshore and onshore personnel in the petroleum industry but is also highly relevant for anyone involved in lifting operations on land. The course provides insight into the design, operation, use, and maintenance of rigging systems, with the overall goal of avoiding unwanted incidents during rigging work.

A standard rigger course typically consists of two modules: P-2.4 and P-4.4. The course duration is 40 hours over five days, and includes both theoretical and practical instruction. It begins with module P-2.4, which provides the theoretical foundation needed before continuing to P-4.4, which focuses on hands-on training in the safe use of rigging equipment.

By completing a rigger course, participants will learn how to use and maintain chain blocks and lifting gear, implement safety measures to prevent accidents, understand NORSOK requirements, and assess how different structures are affected by applied forces. The goal is that upon successful completion, the participant will be able to carry out rigging operations independently and safely.

Target group:
Anyone seeking to work offshore.

Prerequisites:
• Completion of G11 Lifting Gear modules 1.1 and 2.3
• Fall protection training

Examination / Certification:
The modules conclude with both a theoretical and a practical exam. Upon passing both, a course certificate will be issued, typically sent by post.
